Meeting Life's Challenges with Skill and Wisdom: An Introduction to Mindfulness

"When you dwell in stillness, the judging mind can come through like a foghorn...Imagine how it might feel to suspend all your judging and instead to let each moment be just as it is, without attempting to evaluate it as 'good' or 'bad.' This would be a true stillness, a true liberation. Meditation means cultivating a non-judging attitude toward what comes up in the mind, come what may.”

Jon Kabat-Zinn

A gentle introduction to mindfulness for accessing the deep wisdom, well-being, and wholeness that reside within each of us. The course consists of 3 classes and covers 3 meditation practices: sitting, walking, body scanning. Benefits of practicing mindfulness can range from the physical, such as reduction in pain levels and/or an enhanced ability to cope with chronic pain, to the emotional, such as increased confidence and joy. A body scan audio is provided to each participant for continued practice beyond the course.

We will not be taking many notes—maybe jotting down just a few brief reminders. The video cameras on each of our computers will be kept on during class, so that we can all see each other.
