Mentorship Cycle Two

Mentorship Cycle Two is designed for teacher trainees while teaching their second MBSR course either in person or online. Together with your mentor, you will discuss, apply, and expand the range of your developing skills as an MBSR teacher. Consisting of 10 weekly 75- to 90-minute sessions, this second cycle of mentorship is tailored toward identifying and pursuing your specific learning objectives in teaching. The potential to express and evoke the power of the present moment for others through your teaching is developed through an increasingly intimate, honest, and brave relationship with yourself and your mentor. Strong emphasis is given to exploring the intersection of mindfulness practice, teaching practice, and the essential matter of being fully human.

NOTE: Video-recording classes during this second cycle of mentorship is required. You will be using your own 4 audios for this second course.

During this training you will—

  • Explore challenges, insights, and discoveries about the intersection of practice and teaching, through deepening inquiry with your mentor
  • Engage in learning opportunities identified through reflection on class meetings, group development, and your role as teacher
  • Assess your own teaching at a beginning level through review of your class video recordings
  • Receive feedback from your mentor on sections of your class video-recordings
  • Receive feedback on your four audio practice recordings
  • Continue development in a range of foundational MBSR teaching competencies
  • Identify teaching skill and areas for development coming out of your lived experience in the classroom
  • Express the attitudes and underpinnings of mindfulness more fully through your teaching
  • 4 guided MBSR practice audios have been recorded
  • A willingness to enter more deeply into self-discovery, and explore how what you find informs your teaching
