Inside the MBSR Classroom
(Legacy Teacher Training Pathway)

Inside the MBSR Classroom is designed for new MBSR teachers who have completed Fundamentals in Teaching MBSR and taught a 10-week MBSR course while under mentorship. During this training, you will gather weekly with other new teachers and a senior MBSR teacher trainer to explore the themes, intentions, and protocols for each of the 10 sessions of an MBSR course: orientation, 8 classes, and an All Day class. Process-oriented topics will be explored, such as how and when to utilize dyad, small, and large group discussion, and topics of a more personal nature will also be considered, such as how to meet your own fear, anxiety, and arising insights while teaching. There will be time, space, and care devoted to addressing questions that have arisen from your own experience of teaching MBSR. Video clips of experienced teachers will be examined to enhance understanding of the MBSR curriculum, as well as to support a deepening, ongoing exploration of the inextricable connection between how you show up in your own life and in the classroom as a teacher of MBSR.

This course will be taught by either Rebecca Eldridge or Margaret Fletcher, Senior MBSR Teacher Trainers.

During this training you will—

  • Examine foundational underpinnings of each of the 10 sessions of an MBSR course
  • Explore how your inner landscape shows up in the MBSR classroom
  • Learn to meet a wide variety of classroom situations with skill and heart
  • Practice teaching in ways that promote a dynamic, engaged classroom environment
  • Use, at a beginning level, the MBI-TAC to assess teaching competencies of yourself and your teaching colleagues

At the end of this training you will be able to—

  • Enter the MBSR classroom with more authenticity in, and understanding of, your role as the teacher
  • Use the MBI-TAC to continue to explore your own competencies in teaching MBSR
  • Meet the suffering of MBSR participants with fuller insights and heart
  • Respond more effectively to a variety of classroom situations
  • Promote a more engaged classroom experience for all participants
  • Call on teaching colleagues from the training for continued support
  • Readiness to continue teaching MBSR confirmed by East Coast Mindfulness
