Bob's Custom Paint and Remodel Homepage

As the owner of a small, successful custom painting and kitchen cabinet business, Bob Holsey was looking for ways to expand his advertising efforts; specifically, he was looking to highlight his company's dedication to craftsmanship, quality and customer satisfaction, in ways that static "phonebook-type" ads could never accomplish. He knew that an effective web presence could do precisely these things, but like many small business owners, he had precious little time and energy to devote to what seemed a daunting task. With the help of Right Brain Communications, Bob had a complete site up and running in a couple of weeks.

"I am beyond impressed with the work that Javier at Right Brain has done," reports Bob. "I didn't give him very much to go on, but he managed to develop a site that is a very accurate representation of my business--one that highlights the core strengths and values of my company, and attracts the kind of clientele I most want. These days, when I hear potential clients tell me 'Your website is awesome,' I know that the website has already gone a long way toward closing the deal. Investing in a website from Right Brain has made a real difference in the continuing operation--and growth--of my business, even in the midst of an unfavorable economic climate!"

For many small businesses, a website is not only the primary means for advertising their products and services--it also serves as the central point from which current and potential clients are kept informed of new developments, events and offerings. This is definitely the case with Rebecca Eldridge's company, Hampton Roads Hypnosis & Meditation, LLC. With a wide and regularly-changing variety of new and ongoing programs, Rebecca needed a website that she could count on to perform several key business functions--helping to establish the professional tone of her business, providing in-depth information on her services, up-to-date information on events, and collecting payments. The simple, elegant site designed by Right Brain Communications has helped provide all of them.

"One of the most important things I was looking for in a website design was the ability to convey the kind of tone that is consistent with the way I run my business--professional but not stodgy," Rebecca notes. "In a field that some consider somewhat 'on the fringe,' it was very important that the site effectively communicate the seriousness with which I treat my work and my clients; the responses I've received from my clients have made it clear that the site has certainly done its job in that regard! The PayPal e-commerce feature has been great, simplifying the payment process for my clients and providing me with the reports I need. My business really can't function effectively without a website, which is another way of saying that it can't run without the design and tech savvy of Right Brain Communications!"

Although many businesses go for years without ever having designed a logo, some develop one early on and use it to add a unique character to business cards, letterhead, certificates, e-commerce banners and more. In the case of Hampton Roads Hypnosis & Meditation, the simplified rendering of a cormorant on a piling (based on the actual image used on their home page) serves as both a representation of a central company tenet--the power of living fully in the moment--and an acknowledgement of the place where the company started (in downtown Hampton, near the Hampton River, where cormorants and other aquatic birds are a common sight).

The global reach of the Internet means that you can promote your services to more people than ever before. As such, websites are particularly effective in serving as the focal point for the dissemination of information on international events. In the case of the Formula Windsurfing Festival 2010, which attracts racers from all over the globe, event info (including location via Google Maps, venue photos and area attractions) is just the beginning of what the website provides--it is the also the portal through which participants register, purchase event-related apparel, and even sign up for updates on the next year's event! Long after the event is over, the site will function as the repository of event results, photos and video, all of which serve as a lasting showcase of a well-run event (and a handy resource for sponsors and other organizations looking to highlight their participation in it, or considering participating in the future).

3 Bowls of Color Hair Salon opened in 2003, and has enjoyed steady growth ever since--thanks to the unrelenting focus and dedication of its owners. In early 2010, they decided to ramp up their efforts even further, with an eye toward continued expansion of their offerings and customer base. A key component of their strategy was the creation of their first-ever website--a complete showcase of the salon's services, people, special offers, and events. Notably, it features a Google-based calendar that allows employees of the salon to update events and have them automatically published on the website, without any need for intervention from Right Brain Communications' web designer--a real time-saver for a vibrant, dynamic salon!

As small businesses grow and evolve, they sometimes find that one area of their services or products requires particular focus. Rather than extending or modifying an existing website, dedicating an entirely new website to those areas is a great way to highlight them. That's precisely what business owner Rebecca Eldridge decided to do; in an effort to highlight her course offerings in mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), she once again turned to Right Brain Communications to craft an entirely new website, rebeccaeldridge.com. As with her first website, this one performs several key business functions--helping to establish the professional tone of her business, providing in-depth and up-to-date information on course offerings, and collecting payments. The site features a compact, clean, minimalistic design which belies the high level of functionality (and amount of content) on each page.

Buckroe Bob's Bobbers

These days, quite a few businesses exist only on the Internet. For them, their website is the company--it must effectively arouse interest, introduce and explain the products, and establish trust if it is ultimately to generate sales. Such is the task of Buckroe Bob's website (still in the construction phase as of this writing). Aimed at recreational and more serious sport fishermen, the site employs a simple but engaging visual theme that prominently displays the product, while providing visitors with a simple navigation experience to learn more about (and purchase) the product.

This is the second website that businessman (and avid fisherman) Bob Holsey commissioned Right Brain Communications to develop. "When I saw the work that Javier did on the website for my Custom Paint & Remodel business, it was really a 'no-brainer' (pun intended, Bob says!) to have him work on the website for my next big project!"

Well-designed theme elements naturally lend themselves to use on different types of media. In the case of Buckroe Bob's patented bobbers, the image of the floating bobber creates a memorable, elegant and uncluttered business card, and provides a sense of consistency with the main website as well. When customers make a purchase and proceed to the PayPal checkout, a similar image greets them at the top of the page.
